Safe Operation
Before lifting, the rail tongs must be positioned securely over the rail head to ensure proper engagement. Operators should maintain balance and control throughout the lifting and positioning process.
The tongs must be inspected for wear, cracks, deformation or other damage before use. The rated load capacity must never be exceeded, and the equipment should only be used by trained personnel in accordance with applicable mine-safety procedures.
Maintenance
Clean the rail tongs after use and lubricate all moving components regularly. Inspect the tool for wear, deformation and corrosion, and replace damaged components immediately. Store the equipment in dry conditions to help prevent corrosion and extend its service life.
