Jumpsets

ZMS Rail Jumpsets are custom-built temporary or permanent rail-bridging systems that provide controlled crossings over gaps, pipes, cables, drains and track intersections in underground mines. Available for 15kg, 22kg and 30kg rail profiles and gauges from 600mm to 914mm, they support safe and continuous locomotive movement where standard track construction is impractical.

Description

Rail Jumpsets

ZMS Rail Jumpsets are robust temporary or permanent rail-bridging systems designed to create controlled crossing points over gaps, services and intersections within underground mining rail networks. They help maintain safe and continuous locomotive movement where conventional track installation is impractical or needs to be temporarily interrupted.

Manufactured from high-grade structural steel, each jumpset can be custom-built to suit the required rail profile, track gauge, site layout and operating conditions. Single-section and modular configurations are available for flexible installation across changing underground mining environments.

Key Features

  • Robust construction suitable for demanding underground conditions
  • Designed to accommodate heavy operational loads
  • Suitable for temporary or permanent installation
  • Quick to install, remove and reposition
  • Available as single or modular sections
  • Custom-built to suit site requirements
  • Painted or galvanised finishes available
  • Optional anti-slip or reinforcement plates

Applications

Rail Jumpsets are suitable for:

  • Underground haulages and crosscuts
  • Temporary track installations
  • Crossings over pipes, cables and drainage channels
  • Workshop and maintenance areas
  • Track intersections
  • Shaft-bottom rail management
  • Areas where conventional track construction is not feasible

System Components

A typical rail jumpset system may include:

  • Rail sections
  • Base frame or supporting structure
  • Bolted or clipped fastening system
  • Optional anti-slip plates
  • Optional reinforcement plates

Technical Specifications

  • Rail profiles: 15kg, 22kg and 30kg
  • Identified compatibility: SAR 22kg/m and SAR 30kg/m rail on flat-bar
  • Track gauge: 600mm to 914mm
  • Material: High-grade structural steel
  • Configuration: Single or modular sections
  • Finish: Painted or galvanised
  • Manufacturing: Produced according to mine and project requirements

Final dimensions, fastening arrangements and rail compatibility should be confirmed according to the site layout and operational requirements.

Benefits

  • Maintains continuous underground rail operations
  • Reduces downtime during track installation and repairs
  • Provides safer crossings over underground services
  • Supports changing and expanding mine layouts
  • Offers a durable solution for harsh mining environments
  • Can be manufactured for project-specific applications

Installation and Maintenance

Rail Jumpsets should be correctly positioned on stable ground and aligned with the adjoining track. Regular inspections should be carried out to check rail alignment, fastening integrity, structural wear and the condition of supporting surfaces.

Contact ZMS to discuss the required rail profile, gauge, configuration, finish and site conditions.
